Remote Deposit Capture
Prior to the attacks of September 11, 2001, the nation’s paper-based check system required the physical transport of checks from one bank to another. This system ground to a halt following the subsequent suspension of all aircraft flights after the attacks. It was estimated that over $40 billion worth of checks were delayed from clearing for several days. Congress recognized this inherent flaw in the system and passed the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act (Check 21) that went into effect on October 28, 2004. The Check 21 law allows for the electronic processing of check information and the delivery of an electronic image for deposit.
Remote Deposit is a safe, simple, and secure solution that electronically converts and processes checks for deposit. An image of the front and back of the check along with the associated payment information is captured and transmitted for deposit. The USAG Remote Deposit solution consolidates banking relationships allowing merchants to make deposits 24 hours a day to one or more accounts at one or more U.S. financial institutions of the merchant’s choosing. All that is required is a certified check scanner, a computer, and an internet connection. USAG’s Remote Deposit solution stores check information in a paperless environment easily accessible online for reference and reporting. To simplify account reconciliation, deposit data can be exported into a variety of formats compatible with most accounting software.
ACH (Electronic Checks)
The Automated Clearing House Network (ACH) is an efficient, safe, and reliable electronic alternative to paper checks. ACH is used by hundreds of thousands of companies for direct deposit of payroll and by the Federal government for payment of benefits like Social Security.
ACH is the authorized electronic transfer of funds for an individual or company. Funds can be electronically debited or credited to your customer or vendor through their US bank account. In 2009, the number of ACH transactions increased by 4.5% to 3.9 billion
payments. It is estimated that more than 9.2 billion consumer bills were paid through the ACH network in 2009. USAG’s secure web-based system enables merchants to process ACH transactions from any computer with internet access through the merchant’s dedicated and secure online interface.
Gift and Loyalty Services
Gift and Loyalty Card sales are predicted to reach $35 billion this year, an increase of 20% over last year’s gift card sales. A study by Comdata Stored Value Solutions revealed the average gift card buyer spent $198 on cards in the 2009 holiday season. Another study found recipients spend an average of 1.4 times the amount of the card. When offering gift and loyalty cards, Merchants experience margin increases from breakage or the unused value left on cards. According to Convenience News, breakage continues to be approximately $7 of every $100. Gift and loyalty programs improve your marketing, increase your profits, and increase customer retention. The service uses standard POS terminals used for credit and debit card processing and does not require special equipment.

Check Cashing (Coming Soon)
Today, over 9 million U.S. households are without some type of account at a federally insured institution and are categorized as "unbanked". In addition, more than 38 million people are paid with a paper check each pay period requiring the unbanked to rely on alternative methods to carry out basic financial transactions such as cashing payroll checks.
In response to this growing marketplace, USAG developed a retail version of the same Check Cashing technology previously only available to professional check cashers. This technology has been utilized in the nation’s largest and most successful Check Cashing locations. The interface is a simple web-based application with all the tools necessary to approve and cash checks. Our Check Cashing solution is the right fit for retail, convenience, and grocery store locations.
A unique feature of our Check Cashing solution is the integration of an in-store ATM. Upon approval, the net value of the check is loaded onto a prepaid debit card. The debit card can then be used at the in-store ATM for an immediate no-fee withdrawal of the customer’s funds. With cash in hand, customers now have money to spend in the merchant’s location. The integration of the ATM removes any concern the merchant may have about maintaining enough cash to cover cashed checks. Merchants have historically experienced as much as a 17% increase in its retail customer sales when offering Check Cashing.
Bill Pay Services
Bill Pay allows customers to easily pay a bill from any participating merchant location and offers the unbanked another opportunity to easily complete transactions and pay for services. In many cases, posting into the customer’s account is immediate. USAG Bill Pay services utilizes the same equipment used for credit and debit card processing and requires no additional equipment, training or resources from the merchant. Some of USAG’s participating Bill Pay partners include Western Union, Cox Cable, Metro PCS, Time Warner Cable, Direct TV, Alltel, Qwest, and Cricket.
